Role description:

Arcadis are excited to again be growing their Nuclear team. We are looking for talented procurement professionals to join our team to work on a range of Nuclear projects across new build, decommissioning, defence and other emerging markets / technologies in the Nuclear space. You will be part of an industry-leading team, where you can apply your skills to national & international challenges across energy mega programmes & projects.

As part of our Cost Management team, you’ll be involved in a wide range of commissions from global and high profile to small and impactful, ensuring they’re to the delivered to the quality standard, on time, and to budget. Your expertise in sourcing strategy development, procurement planning, sourcing, and awarding supply chain appointments will drive growth and embrace smarter working.

As a Senior Category Manager (SCM) you will join a team of procurement, commercial, programme, and project professionals delivering a broad range of services in support of the delivery of client commissions within the nuclear sector (civil, decommissioning, and defence). Your role will see you play a key part in the successful and optimum provision of required goods, works, and services from the supply chain to ensure the associated delivery of scope, schedule and cost against an assigned portfolio or programme/project.

You will manage and undertake complex and routine procurement activities to meet the business needs of the assigned client commission. This will encompass all aspects of procurement and supply chain management on sophisticated and complex procurement exercises demanding a high level of professional experience and competence, due to the nature of the operating and regulatory environment and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

The role comprises:

responsibility for all aspects of procurement, market management, and supply chain relationship management including strategy development, procurement conduct, evaluation, negotiation, and contract placement associated within an assigned portfolio or programme/projects.
responsibility, where relevant, for procurement, supply chain, and commercial capability resources engaged in all the above activities.

The objective of the role is to:

contribute to the successful performance of the assigned commission portfolio, through the delivery of clients’ business objectives / contractual obligations, and the optimum provision of goods, works, and services from the supply chain for an assigned portfolio or programme/project in accordance with the identified procedures, policy, legislative, regulatory, environmental, safety and quality requirements.
support the development of an optimum supply chain &/or procurement organisation fully resourced with the required skills to provide the necessary support to meet workload needs, and to manage, motivate and develop procurement staff e.g. Category Manager(s), Assistant Category Manager(s) and/or Category Support(s).

Accountabilities

Accountable to a Commercial / Procurement Director, Commercial / Procurement Associate Director, Head of Procurement, or Procurement Manager within the SCM’s assigned portfolio or programme/project for the execution of supply chain / procurement activity including but not limited:

To analyse forecasts of the demand requirements and ensure that individual procurement activities and strategies are effectively undertaken to meet the identified needs.
To ensure contract and supply chain strategies deployed within portfolio, programme, project and contract are fully co- ordinated and aligned to overall strategic objectives and requirements.
To assist the assigned procurement lead or undertaken the lead role (as assigned) in the development of programmes of activities / work to enable effective deployment of resources.
To ensure procurement / commercial risks and issues are identified, managed and mitigated.
To challenge demand requirements to ensure basis of need and value for money sourcing.
To effectively and professionally manage and undertake the sourcing strategy development, sourcing, negotiation, and award of contracts within the prescribed time frame and governance requirements.
To assist in ensuring value added commercial and financial contract management techniques and controls are capable of being deployed on contracts through to contractual close-out.
To ensure that all procurement activity records, reports and system data are completed accurately and to agreed timescales.
To undertake analysis and provide feedback on contractor/supplier performance against the contract(s) and feed into or produce strategic guidance on potential supply chain development opportunities / weaknesses.
Where relevant, to manage resources engaged in supply chain / procurement activity within the assigned portfolio or programme/project, including resource management, setting of delivery objectives and any locally required training, etc.
To ensure consistent application and implementation of supply chain / procurement policy, procedures and guidance.
To assist the assigned procurement lead or undertaken the lead role (as assigned) in managing key stakeholder relationships, including regulatory and parent bodies of clients and other identified stakeholder issues relative to the assigned portfolio.
To ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, including promoting a “safety culture” (both within Arcadis and the supply chain).
To provide proactive leadership to deliver significant and sustained improvements in the discharge of these accountabilities, by promoting, stimulating, encouraging and leading improvement processes.
To promote open, non-discriminatory, equal treatment, and transparent competition throughout the supply chain and all procurements.
To provide procurement support and advice to delivery teams within an assigned portfolio or programme/project.

Qualifications & Experience:

Arcadis is seeking procurement professionals with the following criteria.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject &/or equivalent experience of ideally at least ten years.
Ideally you will hold MCIPS or alternatively be working towards this with a CIPS qualification.
Demonstrable experience utilising the NEC suite of contracts is essential.
Experience of Capital Projects procurement in a regulated environment is essential.
Ideally you will have demonstrable experience working in the Nuclear sector, however a background within other regulated environments will still be considered (i.e. Rail, Utilities, Water etc.).
You should hold or be eligible for UKSV Clearance at Security Cleared level.
