Job Description

Level is looking for an executive Assistant to the Founders,  to support the strategic growth of this pioneering social enterprise in the nature-based solutions and nature investment space. We are looking for an energetic, driven, results-oriented, hyper-organised person who can support and free up  the Founders’ to translate their vision into action.


The position offers a unique opportunity to work with two of the industry’s most respected thought and action leaders, where the successful candidate will play an important  role in shaping the next phase of growth - both in consolidating and scaling the successes of an award-winning carbon project development company (Carbon Tanzania), and in being at the forefront of the emerging markets for biodiversity credits, and innovating in the understanding of social value in nature investment space. It is an opportunity to help shape the strategy and growth of this ambitious and mission-driven company.


The role will involve broad exposure to the executive team’s leadership and decision-making processes. It will offer the candidate the chance to feed into and operationalise strategic initiatives, including travelling with the Founders to remote project sites and to support them at strategically important conferences and events. The position will allow them to build broad content expertise in the rapidly growing and fast-evolving carbon and biodiversity credit markets and financing space, including being exposed to rapid advances in methodological, technical and  technological applications. LEVEL

Level is a conservation business that redefines the relationship between the worlds of finance and nature. It currently navigates this through its wholly owned subsidiary Carbon Tanzania which is Tanzania’s leading producer of nature-based carbon credits through its community-led, award winning forest conservation projects. As a dedicated sales and marketing platform for Carbon Tanzania, is has developed financing arrangements for business development and project development funding, as well as negotiating long term purchase agreements for the carbon credits generated by Carbon Tanzania’s NbS projects, and it has supported these commercial relationships with an innovative, forward-looking and sector-leading communications strategy.


Level is committed to broadening its ambition by developing new business products and investment opportunities. It has realised  this ambition using a business strategy development process throughout 2023  that has identified two new areas of business for Level to explore and increase its impact in the nature conservation / NbS space. We are committed to exploring and exploiting opportunities in the emerging biodiversity crediting space to develop or co-develop managed natural assets, or to offer skills and expertise to those doing the same. At the same time we are packaging and bringing to market a social value research solution called “Reflect” that helps nature conservation organisations, investors and implementers to better understand the lived experiences and impacts on communities that are involved in NBS projects. It also allows the organisations themselves to better identify,  characterise and manage  areas of risk within their operations and activities.


Level is in a phase of strategic growth and exploration of commercial opportunities in the nature finance and investment space. As such the role of Assistant to the Founders requires someone who is highly adaptable and comfortable with uncertainty, and who is prepared for unexpected developments in the range and nature of opportunities available to the business over the near to mid term.


The company is at the beginning of a stage of growth which involves the redefinition of the Founders’ roles and responsibilities. The Assistant to the Founders role will, for the foreseeable future, require the individual to work closely with the two Founders of the business and who can be both part of consolidating and expanding existing business activities while also being involved in the exploration and development of new and as yet undefined but fundamentally mission-driven new directions.


Key responsibilities

  • Supports the CEO and CIO (the Founders) overseeing daily operations and business activities
  • Supports the CEO and CIO (the Founders) when visiting field sites and potential project development areas
  • Supports the executive team in ensuring smooth business administration
  • Supports executive team in conducting appropriate commercial analyses, and developing strategy
  • Supports executive team and company departments in establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and professional service providers.
  • Work with CEO / CIO (Founders) to communicate and disseminate the mission and commercial objectives of the business - inc events / conferences etc…


Required skills and qualifications

  • Three years of experience in professional / corporate roles
  • Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Excellent research and analytic skills
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Relevant work experience includes: strategy consulting, international business, operations, public sector / regulatory
  • Ability to operate in remote off-grid  locations, and comfortable with challenging logistical situations


Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in business administration, accounting, business accounting, economics or finance
  • International corporate experience
  • Experience in consultancy contracts
  • Multi-lingual
