In SPC we oversee firms and individuals (supervision) create and review the rules by which they operate (policy) and identify and remedy ineffective competition in markets (competition). Sitting within the Specialist Directorate the R&I department focuses on all aspects of actual or potential firm failure across FCA-regulated firms identifying and recommending resolution strategies for failing or at-risk firms and supporting Supervision in their implementation.Role responsibilities:Deliver complex cases to reduce harm to consumers and markets from firm failure while contributing to departmental goals through internal projects and initiativesEngage and influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to shape and deliver outcomes that protect and benefit consumersPartner with colleagues across the FCA to design and implement effective strategies for resolving failing firmsAnalyse and translate complex issues including technical and financial matters into clear actionable recommendations for non-specialist audiencesManage and support team members fostering their development and contributing to a positive team cultureDevelop colleagues through collaborative case work and projects delegating effectively to balance multiple priorities and build team capabilityTake ownership of departmental projects and internal workstreams with support from peers to help drive continuous improvement and operational successSkills required:Minimum:Experience of Financial Services regulation: this could be from working at an authorise firm supervising authorised firms or working as an advisor to authorised firmsExperience in restructuring and insolvency as an insolvency professional lawyer supervisor or equivalentEssential: Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills including dealing with a range of external partiesCredible persuasive communicator able to communicate views positively and effectively to all levels of staff and stakeholders inside and outside the organisationSound judgement including being prepared to advance well-reasoned views where limited or inconclusive information is availableExperience of managing several tasks and priorities at onceAbility to work with and through others to achieve effective resultsTeam-working skills - the nature of the departments work is highly collaborativeAbility to build a strong network across the organisation and have confidence in working at all levels across the FCA to deliver and provide advice and challenge on a range of mattersBenefits:25 days annual leave plus bank holidaysHybrid model with up to 60% remote workNon-contributory pension (812% depending on age) and life assurance at eight times your salaryPrivate healthcare with Bupa income protection and 24/7 Employee Assistance35 hours of paid volunteering annuallyA flexible benefits scheme designed around your lifestyleFor a full list of our benefits and our recruitment process as a whole visit our benefits page.Our Values & CultureOur colleagues are the key to our success as a regulator.
