Aboutthe Team

HM Treasury's Prudentialand Sustainability Team develop policy on prudential banking andsustainable finance. This role sits in the Prudential side of theTeam. We have taken forward significant amounts of legislation inthe last few years and advised the Chancellor on high profileannouncements on reforms brought in following the financial crisis.We are also delivering significant work to amend legislation whichwas inherited from the UK’s membership of theEU.

Our team is responsible for policy containedin the Capital Requirements Regulation and SecuritisationRegulations. Following the 2008 financial crisis, these regulationsaimed to protect households and investors by ensuring that bankshold enough capital to protect against the risk of loss and byintroducing new safeguards for securitisation products being boughtand sold in the market.


Aboutthe Role

As a Senior PolicyAdvisor, you'll be working in a stretching role, supported by afriendly and high-performing team. We are offering significantautonomy to deliver meaningful legislation and build a wide networkacross HM Treasury and other organisations.


You will need toadapt to changes in our policy environment but your keyresponsibilities willinclude:

  1. Preparing legislation totransfer bank capital and liquidity regulation to regulatorrulebooks and ensuring the delivery of advice and briefing toministers throughout the legislativeprocess.
  2. Advising seniors and ministers on howthe UK financial regulators are implementing new rules on capitalrequirements for banks andsecuritisation.
  3. Setting the direction for, anddelivering, policy development regarding overseas regimes relatedto capital regulation.
  4. Leading policydevelopment related to securitisation, including advising seniorsand ministers on legislative requirements to support regulator rulemaking.
  5. Line management of oneSEO.
