An innovative start-up working on carbon-negative fuels is currently recruiting for a Senior Chemical Engineer to join its established team based in Gloucester. As their Senior Chemical Engineer, you will lead the scale up of the company’s novel technology – focusing on front end design (FEED).


Senior Chemical Engineer responsibilities

  • Develop and implement models to simulate the behaviour of chemical reactors under various conditions
  • Work towards the build of the company’s demonstrator – managing FEED projects.
  • Analyse gas flow dynamics to optimise performance and efficiency
  • Design and processes for temperature measurement and control within the reactor environment
  • Support efforts in syngas cleanup and carbon dioxide separation, proposing innovative solutions to enhance process efficiency
  • Collaborate with the research team to troubleshoot process-related issues and implement continuous improvement strategies
  • Provide technical expertise to support the scaling-up of our carbon-negative technology, ensuring it meets industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Document all design work and process improvements meticulously, contributing to innovation and patent applications as required


Senior Chemical Engineering requirements

  • Degree qualification in Chemical Engineer, Process Engineering or closely related.
  • Proven experience working on medium to large-scale projects
  • FEED project experience
  • Strong experience in modelling and simulation of chemical processes, particularly reactor behaviour, gas flows, and temperature control
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly and concisely
  • Passion for sustainability and climate technology innovations
  • Experience with ASPEN, SolidWorks is highly desired
