Acumen Intelligence Consulting (AIC) provides information services with a focus on East Africa. The Consultant Junior Analyst will be responsible for providing research, analysis and administrative support to the analyst team and company Directors.


This analyst should ideally either have experience, or a strong interest, in Sub-Saharan Africa / East Africa-focused security and/or political analysis including working with local media collection, report writing in a professional context, and experience working with violent incident data. If the candidate has experience, or at least a strong interest in, both Mozambique and intelligence work that would be favourably considered.


Furthermore, preferred languages that would be helpful for this role include Swahili and Portuguese.


The analyst will be required to work 5 days a week, and this will include occasional evenings and days on weekends (with days off in lieu).


The analyst's responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Conduct and support information collection, verification and analysis relating to security, political and economic developments in Mozambique (as well as other East African countries) through the use of several methods including local media collection, social media intelligence, violent incident data management, and imagery intelligence.
  • Manage intelligence gathering through a variety of sources including HUMINT.
  • Assist with the production of daily, weekly and bespoke / irregular reports for AIC clients (including security, political and due diligence reports).
  • General administrative support including regular use of a number of data management programmes such as data analytics software and QGIS.


Salary: Competitive for similar roles within the industry. Possibility of travel to East Africa after initial training period of 3-4 months.


Work dynamic: Although this is predominantly a remote work position, AIC have a shared workspace in London from which our analysts in central London can convene face to face for meetings.
