Cambridge, United Kingdom Econ Engineering Ltd Full time

About Us:

Econ Engineering is the UK’s largest supplier of winter maintenance vehicles, known for our innovative and reliable fleet solutions. We are expanding and seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team, based from home and covering the Cambridgeshire area. This role supports our mission of delivering high-quality service to our growing customer base.

The Role:

As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and servicing our fleet of modern winter maintenance vehicles. Your primary responsibilities will include routine maintenance, repairs, and breakdown assistance. Experience working on Mercedes and DAF trucks is highly beneficial, as is holding an HGV Class 2 license or equivalent. In addition, we provide comprehensive product training to ensure you’re fully equipped to excel in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Breakdown and Repair Services: Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and carry out repairs to minimise downtime and ensure our vehicles remain operational, especially during peak winter periods.

Fault Diagnosis and Repair: Accurately diagnose reported issues and conduct the necessary repairs, maintaining high standards in safety and efficiency.

Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance and routine servicing following manufacturer recommendations to keep the fleet in top condition.

Documentation: Use a tablet to complete all necessary paperwork accurately, ensuring maintenance records are up-to-date and accessible.

You’ll be equipped with a fully outfitted, high-spec van containing specialised tools to support your work. Additional training and support will be available from our central hub and local team to ensure you have the resources needed to succeed.

Seasonal Commitment:

This role requires flexibility, particularly in the winter months when demand increases. The primary call-out season runs from early October to the end of April, during which you will participate in an on-call standby rotation. During the off-season, summer months will focus on preparing the fleet for the upcoming winter, including work based in the Cambridgeshire area and other site locations as needed.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience repairing and maintaining HGV/PSV. Having prior experience as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar role would be advantageous. You will be a proactive, experienced commercial vehicle engineer who enjoys both independent work and collaboration with a team. You are comfortable with flexible hours, adapting to the seasonal nature of the job, and committed to maintaining high standards in vehicle servicing and customer support.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer an extremely competitive salary, overtime, a standby allowance, and pension contributions. Additionally, you’ll benefit from ongoing professional training, a supportive team, and opportunities for advancement within a respected and growing company.

If you’re ready to take on this vital role within our team and contribute to the UK’s leading winter maintenance vehicle provider, apply today to join Econ Engineering.
