Swindon, United Kingdom Nationwide Building Society Full time

We are the Customer Data Team and our focus is to ensure the Society holds high quality data about its customers. Through an understanding of the customer data, it’s lineage and structures and using robust analytical skills, you will identify trends and opportunities for improving overall quality.

Our ambition is to serve our customers at their heart and customer data is crucial to our success, underpinning all journeys and is fundamental in helping us to bring efficiency and simplicity. We need to ensure that customer data is implicit in everything we do, we are helping create better customer experiences and outcomes by improving the quality of the Society’s most valuable asset, customer data.

We’re working to improve the way the Society handles customer data to protect our customers and maintain their trust in us. To have the right governance, control and understanding, we require an experienced data analyst to create insights that support the end-to-end processes we are responsible for, proactively highlight data issue and problem resolution, as part of our function.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at our or Swindon office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you’ll be doing

From a day to day and task perspective, you'll be working across the team, focusing on delivering shared outcomes linked to end-to-end process ownership and customer data domain ownership and bringing your insight and programming skills as part of a multi-skilled team.

You'll be supporting the team to help grow collective capability in your core area of expertise. You'll reinforce a culture of treating data as an asset and supporting BAU, ongoing projects and key deliveries.

You’ll be focused on creating insight, solution design and delivery, ensuring our business needs are met and bringing your knowledge and experience to exceed those expectations. Working as part of a team, you’ll be the first point of contact for providing support and guidance to other team members or colleagues who are learning about the value of using data visualisation to generate insights.

This could mean you apply your skills to support creating BI solutions and using SAS/SQL for data analysis to support any developments and changes as well as resolution of operational issues.

You'll also have the opportunity to learn and apply skills outside of your core discipline of data analysis, getting involved in business analysis, engineering of data and visualising data.

What makes us different

Nationwide is the world’s largest building society. With over 15 million customers, we have a relationship with almost a quarter of the UK’s population. We’ve got the scale to compete with the big banks, but we’re not a bank.

As a building society, we’re owned by our members – that’s our customers who have their current account, mortgage or savings with us. It means we can do things differently to deliver our Purpose – Banking – but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.

When you work at Nationwide, you can experience that difference for yourself. You’ll be part of a high-performing, purpose-driven organisation that offers rewarding career experiences and a highly competitive range of benefits to match. You’ll also be joining us at an important time as we seek to reach more and more people in the UK. We want everyone in the UK to know that they don’t have to bank with a bank. They can choose a modern mutual instead.
