The head office is located within Buchanan Bus Station, Glasgow.Job summaryThe Assistant Management Accountant (ASM) will assist with the preparation of the period-end management accounts and annual financial statements, including the preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. The ASM will own the accounts receivable function and be responsible for debt collection as well as providing support to the outsourced accounts payable function.Main ResponsibilitiesAssistant management accountant responsibilities include:Assist with the preparation of Period End and Annual Accounts in accordance with the Group reporting deadlines, including the posting of journal entries.Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations including prepayments, accruals and GRNI. Perform daily cashbook postings and detailed bank reconciliationsOwnership of the weekly cashflow forecast Co-ordination of the monthly credit card journals and accruals. Ownership of the fixed asset register, including all depreciation postings and review of assets under construction. Ownership of the Accounts Receivable ledger, including debt recovery, the raising of sales invoices and group reporting of debt. Liaise and support the outsourced accounts payable function, including raising purchase orders as and when required.Assist with the preparation of quarterly VAT returnsAssist with the preparation of quarterly corporation tax payments on account.Active involvement during the annual financial audit. Ensuring accounting practices comply with regulations (IFRS).Ad hoc financial analysis as requested by the local management team or group finance team. Continuous improvement of financial processes and controls.To undertake any other reasonable tasks requested by the Finance Manager or Senior management team. Competencies & SkillsPrevious Experience as an assistant management accountant or similar level.Part Qualified Accountant or Qualified by experience with an excellent understanding of fundamental accounting principles and the application of them in practice. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications with strong Excel skillsExcellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate clearly and at all levelsExcellent attention to detailOrganised, proactive, methodical and results orientatedAbility to manage own workload effectively with minimal supervision and work to strict deadlinesExperience of accounting software (Oracle is advantageous, but not necessary)Team player committed to ensuring that the overall team and business objectives are metHours of workMonday – Friday – 3 days per week (flexible). Based within Buchanan Bus Station
