1. Role Overview Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research organization to engage professionals with advanced expertise in video game design development and analysis. This full-time opportunity invites creative game designers and developers to help train and refine AI systems capable of understanding and generating high-quality video games. As an AI Tutor Video Game Specialist you will contribute to building AI that can design test and improve engaging innovative and interactive gaming experiences. You will play a key role in shaping how AI models understand game mechanics storytelling and player experience. By providing detailed annotations evaluations and creative input youll ensure that AI-generated games achieve depth balance and playability. 2. Key Responsibilities Use proprietary tools to label annotate and evaluate gaming data including mechanics storylines and design elements Provide high-quality feedback on gameplay creativity and overall user experience Collaborate with technical teams to design annotation workflows that improve AI game generation Analyze and critique AI-generated games for functionality balance and innovation Reference game development trends tools and best practices for accurate annotations Test and iterate on AI-generated content to enhance model understanding of player engagement 3. Ideal Qualifications Bachelors or Masters degree in Game Design Computer Science Interactive Media or a related field Proven experience in game design or development preferably within the indie game space supported by a strong portfolio Strong ability to evaluate game quality including gameplay storytelling and mechanics Experience playtesting or iterating on game prototypes to refine creativity and functionality Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong analytical and creative judgment Passion for the evolution of AI in game design and interactive entertainment 4. Preferred Background Experience in AI-assisted game development playtesting or working with indie game studios Extensive gaming experience and deep familiarity with different genres platforms and player communities 5. Work Environment Based in Palo Alto CA (in-office 5 days per week) or fully remote with strong self-management skills U.S.-based applicants must reside outside of Wyoming and Illinois Typical hours: 9:00am5:30pm PST during training then aligned with your local timezone Remote workers must use a personal computer that meets one of the following requirements: a Chromebook a Mac running macOS 11 or newer or a Windows PC running Windows 10 or newer Reliable smartphone access is required 6.
