About the Role

Catches is seeking a highly skilled and creative Unreal Technical Artist to work closely and collaborate on a digital fashion pipeline with our creative and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in development and iteration in the Unreal Engine, working with and integrating toolsets from the VFX / Fashion industries and manipulating data, assets and code, to build new tooling that assists fellow creatives with digital garment creation. This is a role that is more technically oriented, whereby we will be working on tackling unique problems that impact working with the fashion industry in Unreal, with expectations of some creative involvement. To be highly effective in this role, additional experience with Clo3D, Marvelous and Houdini are great advantages, as well as existing experience or passion for fashion. This is a full-time position.


Responsibilities

  • Research, design and assist with the creation of tooling in the Unreal Engine, to automatically rig clothing onto avatars in the Unreal Engine
  • Iterate on clothing simulations, both inside the engine and in other programs
  • Assist with the construction of high-fidelity environments to improve the visualisation of clothing
  • Iterate on lighting, animations, camera sequences and rendering in the Unreal Engine to help produce photorealistic renders of clothing items on avatars
  • Assist with the development of pipelines to automate the generation of clothing items and avatars, potentially utilising Clo3D, Marvelous, Houdini and Unreal
  • Assist with the creation of demo assets in Clo3D, Marvelous and Houdini
  • Provide advice and documentation of best practices for working with Clo3D, Marvelous, Houdini and Unreal
  • Assist with the development of manual and automated QC/QA practices for newly developed garments and avatars


Qualifications

Required Skills


  • Experience in working as at least a senior Unreal Technical Artist in games or other industries
  • Experience in Houdini
  • Technical depth and programming knowledge in Unreal, C++, Python
  • Creative capacity to iterate on building high-quality environments, simulations, animations and models
