Assistant Merchandiser

We’re looking for an Assistant Merchandiser to join to our growing team. This is a hybrid role based in London and is ideally suited to someone with experience at Assistant Merchandiser level, we offer a great level of exposure to all levels within the business as well as progression opportunities within the company. As the Assistant Merchandiser, you will be supporting the Merchandiser in the day to day running of the department, you should be proficient in Excel and a proven ability to analyse numerical data with success. We would need you to demonstrate a commercially driven mindset with the ability to remain calm under pressure. You will be responsible for achieving the departmental KPI’s including sales, margin and OTB. Working closely with internal teams across Buying, Retail, Ecommerce and the warehouse as well as our external vendors. You will manage the range over its lifecycle, communicating opportunities and risks to internal stakeholders. Previous experience gained at MAA & AM level in forecasting and managing OTB would be highly beneficial, a growth mindset and a collaborative nature is a must
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Trading
- Assist in all aspects of trading the department, to include:
- Running and updating Monday morning reports
- Setting up, maintaining/updating linecards and proposing actions to Merchandisers
- Updating the WSSI to specified time frames
- Ad hoc analysis as and when required by Merchandiser/wider business
- Carrying out in-season reviews to offer valuable analysis for the Merchandiser and Buyers to make strategic decisions for future season plans.
- Reforecasting in-season performance against plan, taking action in order to maximise profit.
- Work closely with Ecommerce and Retail teams to support availability and ensure any potential issues are resolved
- Assist with preparing and setting up markdown proposals across the key sale periods
- To work proactively to provide the wider business with accurate and up to date information at all times
Planning
- To understand and drive company strategy
- Manage critical path to ensure key deadlines are met
- Collate information and analysis prior to range meetings to provide insight to key stake holders, this could include:
- Price, colour and attribute analysis
- Update range plans to ensure accurate and up to date information at all times to share with the wider business
- To work closely with Buying to ensure all new products are following the specified critical path to launch on time
Systems
- High level of competency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- To work with the Design and Buying teams to ensure all products are attributed correctly
- To work with Buying to ensure system accuracy
- Raise POs in a timely manner
- To manage the key administration activities of the dept
Commerciality
- To be aware of the La Coqueta brand and where it sits across key markets
- To gain knowledge on our customer profile
- To track competitor product ranges, pricing and promotional tactics
- Challenging Merchandising processes to ensure the team is working efficiently and effectively to support the business.
Key Skills
- Skills required:
- Advanced Excel skills with a strong ability to manipulate data and produce reports accurately
- Highly numerate & and analytical
- Good communication skills – must be able to communicate across multiple depts
- Minimum of 2 years Head Office merchandising experience
- Ability to work within a changing environment in a positive and helpful manner at all times
- Build strong relationships across multiple departments in and outside the business
- Commercial with product affinity
- Ability to manage multiple and competing work priorities, demands, and changes
- Conversational Spanish is advantageous but not required
