The Opportunity
We're seeking a full-time Manager, Credit Risk to supercharge our counterparty and risk function. The ideal candidate is seasoned professional with a high level of autonomy, who is comfortable taking ownership of the underwriting process and who brings an objective and critical view to the organization.
Your main responsibility is to take ownership of the underwriting process and credit assessment framework.
About the Role
- Drive loan underwriting activities:
- Analyze financials of borrowers.
- Coordinate borrower due diligence.
- Assist with preparation and review of loan documentation and recommendations.
- Monitor and assist in the credit risk management of the institutional loan portfolio:
- Ensure we are within covenants and limits with our risk management policy.
- Model scenarios and pressure test our loan portfolio.
- Help develop and implement comprehensive credit risk strategies that enable continued growth of our institutional loan portfolio at the lowest possible risk of loss due to default.
- Identify and resolve gaps in current operational processes and policies to enable profitable growth.
- Work closely with our institutional team to identify, document and implement process improvement opportunities.
- Work closely with Data Team to:
- Improve automation of loan portfolio reporting processes.
- Maintain credit risk policies and procedures that align with the organization's overall risk management framework.
Qualifications
- 5 years experience in commercial credit underwriting, financial services, or banking.
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in Commerce.
- Experience with cryptocurrency credit is a plus.
- Able to scope, negotiate, and execute key cross-functional initiatives.
- Able to use data to identify problems, trends, and anomalies, as well as to make recommendations for new initiatives.
- Expertise in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills and an ability to synthesize information and make clear, concise recommendations on a course of action.
- A creative and eager mindset, with a bias towards action and finding solutions.
- Fluent in English.
