Senior Audit Accountant Location:Inverness, IV1 1HT Salary : £45,000 - £60,000 per annum Contract : Full-time, Permanent Are you an experienced Accountant with strong audit expertise and a passion for delivering high-quality work We're looking for a skilled Senior Audit Accountant to join our growing practice and take ownership of year-end accounts, audit engagements, and client advisory work. About the Role As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in preparing and reviewing year-end accounts, leading audit assignments, and ensuring compliance across all financial reporting. You will work closely with clients, colleagues, and external auditors to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial information. You'll also support the development of junior team members reviewing work, offering guidance, and helping shape their professional growth. As our Senior Audit Accountant you will be responsible for: Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies. Produce financial statements and complete audit files in line with ISA and ISQM requirements. Conduct audit testing, identify risk areas, and prepare detailed audit reports. Review trial balances, correct errors, and post adjusting journals (accruals, prepayments, HP, leases, loans). Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts including bank, control, and suspense accounts. Ensure compliance with UK GAAP frameworks including FRS 105 and FRS 102 (1A). Prepare corporation tax computations and basic personal tax returns. Produce and review management accounts and supporting reports. Ensure financial records meet HMRC, Companies House, and audit requirements. Liaise confidently with clients to resolve queries and explain accounts, audit findings, and tax matters. Communicate directly with HMRC, banks, and other external stakeholders when required. Review work produced by junior colleagues for accuracy and compliance. Provide coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training to junior team members. Delegate tasks effectively and monitor progress of audit engagements. Support team development and contribute to a positive, collaborative working culture. Manage multiple client deadlines with strong organisational and time-management skills. Investigate variances, errors, and risks with a strong analytical mindset. Take ownership of client portfolios and audit assignments. Improve processes and workflows through proactive problem-solving.
