Your new role
You will be joining a team of talented, solution focussed and driven employee relations specialists. Our purpose is to support our managers to make Mitie a great place to work. We advise and coach managers in their management of ER cases, upholding fair and just policies in-line with legislation and best practice whilst balancing risk and commerciality to deliver the best results for our business.
This is a hybrid role normally 2 days per week in the office, (Bristol or Birmingham) with flexible working available. We support continuous development including those who wish to continue or begin their CIPD studies., via the apprenticeship levy.
What to expect
- Management of your own caseload of complex ER issues using your knowledge in ER and employment law, from receipt of a case through to its conclusion
- Utilise technology, including our case management system, to remotely deliver a quality service to our customers across the UK and Europe
- Exposure to a wide variety of contracts across many sectors, both public and private
- Be part of a wider customer service focussed People Support team, Mitie's central HR function
- Opportunity to collaborate with experts in our legal team in the management of Early Conciliation and ET claims, and with our and Occupational Health providers
- Conduct ER policy and process reviews and make recommendations for improvement. and drive the implementation of improved services, policies, and procedures.
- Build relationships with the wider HR team and escalate significant concerns in their business areas.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders including HR Managers, HR Business Partners, ER Managers and Head of ER for referral of high risk ER cases.
- What we are looking for
Employee Relations knowledge and experience or operational management experience
- CIPD qualified or looking for the opportunity to be supported with your studies
- HR shared service centre experience preferable.
- Proficient IT skills including MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Experience using an HR case management system
- An understanding of HR systems would be an advantage.
- Up to date working knowledge of current employment law.
- HR advisory experience, with a good working knowledge of theory and best practice.
- Experience of working in a unionised environment preferable.
- Strong understanding of and respect for confidentiality.
