Our client is an early stage fintech startup who are building a platform that uses machine learning and advanced analytics to better understand merchant risk in payments. Due to expansion, they’re looking for a Business Development Manager to be based remotely, anywhere in the UK. The salary is extremely competitive, comes with equity and there will be a bonus scheme in place, as the role develops.

We’re seeking a dynamic Lead for Business Development and Partnerships to lead our client’s expansion efforts with payment companies across the UK, Europe, and North America. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a robust background in payment sector risk management and a proven track record of engaging with senior executives to foster product adoption.

What is expected of the Business Development Manager?


  • Strategic Business Development: Proactively identify and target key new business opportunities to broaden their client base within the payment industry. Utilise existing relationships and forge new alliances to drive business growth
  • Drive Revenue Growth: Get more clients in through their sales cycle to start actively working with them; build relationships across the payments industry to continue improve their BD pipeline
  • Lead Market Engagement: Craft high-quality go-to-market strategies and materials; initiate and maintain engagement with senior executives, along with risk, commercial, and technical stakeholders at prospective partners to secure business deals.
  • Ensure Service Quality: Work collaboratively with internal teams to guarantee that service delivery aligns with client expectations and maintains the highest standards.
  • Support Insurance Partnerships: Work with their internal risk team and insurance partners to deliver our innovative risk mitigation solution to partners.


What we look for in a Business Development Manager?


  • Experience in business development, partnerships, or a related field, preferably within the payments industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in risk management within the payment sector
  • Strong commercial drive and sales mentality for leading business development in a startup environment
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the product team, risk team, and the management team
  • Existing network within the payment sector.
