Cascade UK Ltd have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineer at their fork manufacturing plant in Openshaw, Manchester who can help us maintain and improve our quality assurance processes.


We are looking for someone with technical knowledge and know-how of welding, NDT and heat treatment processes. Ideally you will have trained as a metallurgist.


Key responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure consistent product quality throughout production.
  2. Conduct regular inspections, audits and testing to monitor and improve product quality.
  3. Identify and resolve quality issues, root causes and defects in a timely manner.
  4. Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions and preventative actions (CAPAs) to ensure continual improvement.
  5. Perform statistical analysis (SPC, Six sigma) to track quality trends and initiate improvement projects.
  6. Support the maintenance of the quality management systems (QMS) in alignment with ISO standards and other regulatory requirements.(ISO9001, ISO3834-2, ISO9712)
  7. Manage customer related topics such as complaints, warranty, technical reports and solutions.
  8. Supplier quality management
  9. Review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to reflect changes in best practices and regulatory requirements.
  10. Manage and lead Quality Coordinator, providing guidance, training, and support to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Desirable skills


  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Material Science, or a related technical field.
  2. Root cause analysis experience (8D, 5Y, FMEA) that is solutions focused.
  3. Proven experience as a Quality Engineer
  4. Good technical understanding of welding, NDT and heat treatment processes
  5. Adopts a ‘go see’ approach to shop floor environment and engages with workforce
  6. In depth understanding of quality control procedures
  7. Excellent attention to detail
  8. Results orientated
  9. Proficient in MS Office
