NSTR are recruiting for an Investment Analysis & Financial Reporting Manager to be a part of a group of individual businesses and strategic, long-term investments spanning housebuilding, property and development, leisure, and healthcare. The business has a substantial presence in the housebuilding sector.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting directly to CFO, this role includes provision of financial reporting for a ~£1bn group of companies and subsidiaries. You will be responsible for analysing investment opportunities, and should expect to get actively involved from day 1. This role will allow you to gain excellent insight into the breadth of the business, the key issues facing the business and exposure to senior management and external partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting

  • Lead the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements for the Group and subsidiaries, in compliance with relevant accounting standards.

  • Ensure adherence to FRS102 and other regulatory reporting requirements.

Audit Coordination

  • Manage the relationship with external auditors across the Group including providing support to the subsidiary finance teams, drawing on experience to facilitate a smooth audit process.

  • Provide necessary documentation and technical accounting papers for any complex/technical audit inquiries and reviews.

  • Working with the subsidiary teams to improve the efficiency of the audit process and mitigate overruns.

Process Improvement

  • Continuously assess and enhance financial reporting processes for efficiency and accuracy.

  • Implement best practices and stay informed about industry trends.

Management Information

  • Work with Group and subsid finance teams to enhance the quality of management information and improve speed of reporting.

  • Provide insight to subsidiary teams regarding KPIs and MI presentation.

  • Work with the CFO to prepare and enhance the quality of MI in the Board packs.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Monitor changes in financial regulations and standards, ensuring the organisation's compliance.

  • Identify and mitigate financial reporting risks.

  • Some company secretary responsibilities.

Financial Analysis

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to support decision-making processes.

  • Provide insights into key financial metrics and trends.

Communication and Stakeholder Management

  • Communicate financial results and insights effectively to senior management.

  • Collaborate with various subsidiary teams to gather relevant information for reporting.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing accurate financial data for planning purposes

Investment Analysis

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative reviews of fund investment opportunities.

  • Meet with top-tier fund managers in investment banking, private equity, and other strategies.

  • Analysis of existing investment portfolio performance and preparing information to be included in Board reports.

  • Review financial statements of private equity partnerships, including portfolio company valuations and investment cash flows.

  • Assist with special reporting, research, and due diligence projects.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified Accountant - ideally ACA, ideally from a Big 4 / Top 6 firm with 2 years + PQE.

  • Educated to degree level or have equivalent professional experience.

  • Excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills with good initiative and an ability to create and agree workable solutions.

  • Excellent technical knowledge with broad accounting and financial reporting experience.

  • A strong finance aptitude with a track-record of delivering within committed timescales.

  • Resilience, problem solving and good judgement - this role is often the first call for issues and queries, for which no clear answer exists or prior knowledge available.

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
