Job Opportunity: Contract Manager (mechanical and electrical)


Location: Kingston (with regular travel to other sites)

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical & Electrical Manager to join our dedicated and experienced teams. This role combines technical expertise with the privilege of working in some of the most iconic historical buildings in the UK.

As a Mechanical & Electrical Manager, you will play a key role in the maintenance, conservation, and safety of the sites . You will support our mission to bring the stories of the sites and their people to UK-wide and international audiences, contributing to our vision of becoming a charity for everyone.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage the day-to-day M&E maintenance service operations, addressing helpdesk or emergency defects through site teams or contractors while adhering to the Maintenance and Facilities budget.
  • Ensure the delivery of an exceptional visitor experience and a functional working environment for staff.
  • Oversee long-term projects, collaborating with key stakeholders and partners to deliver outstanding results.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance & Facilities Manager, providing expert advice to internal departments, stakeholders, and project teams.

  • Proven experience in managing M&E maintenance operations, including reactive and routine maintenance.
  • Strong organisational and strategic planning skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, busy environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to manage stakeholder relationships and expectations.
  • A team-oriented mindset, with a passion for preserving history and sharing it with the public.
  • Enthusiasm for HRP’s mission and the ability to inspire contractors, stakeholders, and visitors alike.


Desirable Skills:


  • Experience in working with heritage or historical buildings.
  • Familiarity with managing complex stakeholder relationships.
