We are seeking a proactive and detail-orientedCredit Controllerto manage and reduce tenant rent arrears across our property portfolios. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining healthy cash flow by engaging directly with tenants, understanding the causes of arrears, and working collaboratively to resolve outstanding balances. This opportunity is based at ourExeter officeand is afull-time, fixed-term positionoffering asalary of £26,000 per year . Let's talk about the role. It involves: Chase tenant arrears via phone calls, emails, and written correspondence in a timely and professional manner. Review tenant rental statements to accurately assess the cause and history of arrears. Engage with tenants to understand their financial situation and identify obstacles to payment. Negotiate and agree on realistic payment plans tailored to individual circumstances, ensuring plans are monitored and adhered to. Maintain accurate records of all communications and payment agreements using the internal system. Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., property management, accounts) to ensure up-to-date information and alignment on tenant accounts. Escalate unresolved cases appropriately, while focusing on resolving arrears amicably and avoiding legal proceedings where possible. Provide reports and updates on arrears progress and trends to management when required. Excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills, especially over the phone. Strong analytical ability to interpret rental statements and account histories. Ability to remain calm, professional, and empathetic when dealing with challenging or sensitive situations. Organised with strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
