The SENCO will play a key role in ensuring that all students receive the tailored support they need to succeed academically and socially.
Role Highlights:
- Lead and manage the schools SEN provision ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Work closely with teachers parents and external agencies to develop and implement effective Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
- Provide training and support to staff on best practices for teaching and supporting SEN students fostering a culture of inclusion within the school.
- Monitor and assess the progress of students with SEN using data to inform interventions and support strategies.
- Facilitate regular communication with parents and caregivers to ensure they are engaged in their childs learning journey and understand the support available.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs (such as the National Award for SEN Coordination).
- Proven experience in a similar role with a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive practices in education.
- Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students alike.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with students and families ensuring their needs are at the forefront of decisionmaking.
- A clear DBS check is required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.
