General overview of responsibilities:

  • Work on a wide range of issues related to utilities, renewable energy projects, and regulatory compliance.
  • Advising clients on compliance with energy regulations and environmental laws.
  • Drafting and negotiating contracts related to energy projects, including joint ventures, power purchase agreements, and supply contracts.
  • Assisting in the development of energy projects, from planning and consenting to construction and operation.
  • Handling disputes related to energy projects, including litigation and arbitration.
  • Advising on the acquisition and sale of energy assets and companies.
  • Engaging with regulatory bodies and policymakers to influence energy policy and regulation.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ideally someone with a combination of legal expertise, technical understanding, and the ability to navigate complex commercial and regulatory environments.
  • Must have relevant UK experience in a similar practice area and be available to commence assignments at short notice.
  • Experience in energy law, either through previous roles or specialized training.
  • Knowledge of the energy sector and relevant regulations is essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients, often in a fast-paced environment.
