Software Developer Back End

We are looking for a Software Developer Back End to join one of the MC Saatchi Groups specialist divisions MC Saatchi World Services. This division partners with governments civil society foundations academia and the private sector to work on the critical issues of our time including the climate emergency national security social justice conflict prevention and sustainable development. We provide a fully integrated end to end service combining multi-discipline communications teams with subject matter experts across the world. Our work is domestic and global often affecting the most vulnerable in society with international activity orientated towards conflict affected or developing countries.This full-time role is based in the London office on a hybrid basis.ABOUT THE ROLEWere looking for a Back End Developer to design and operate scalable APIs and data systems on AWS. Youll lead a small team of engineers delivering customer-facing APIs and robust ETL data ingestion pipelines. Key Responsibilities:Design build and operate Python/FastAPI-based API services deployed on AWS ECSDevelop and optimize ETL pipelines and automation workflows for reliable data ingestionOwn API design performance optimization security and observabilityProvide technical leadership and mentorship; coordinate delivery with product and data teamsEnsure best practices in CI/CD infrastructure-as-code and containerized deploymentsABOUT YOURequirements:Strong experience with Python and production FastAPI servicesProficient in SQL (schema design query performance tuning)Familiar with data science tools such as Pandas NumPy and JupyterHands-on expertise with AWS services: Lambda ECS S3 RDS/DynamoDB IAMExperience building customer-facing REST APIs and data ingestion pipelinesDemonstrated leadership and mentoring ability in small engineering teamsPractical experience with CI/CD Infrastructure as Code Airflow/dbt and Docker containerizationTechnical Skills:Programming & Frameworks: Python FastAPIDatabases & SQL: Schema design query optimization RDS DynamoDBData Engineering: ETL pipeline development workflow automation Airflow dbtData Science Tools: Pandas NumPy JupyterCloud & Infrastructure (AWS): ECS Lambda S3 RDS DynamoDB IAMDevOps & CI/CD: Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform/CloudFormation) CI/CD pipelines Docker containerizationAPIs: REST API design performance optimization security observabilityTeam Leadership: Technical mentoring delivery coordination with product/data partnersApplications close: Wednesday 12 November 2025.
