Senior Manager, Media Relations and External Communications

Were looking for a Senior Manager Media Relations and External Communications to join our team in London UKLiberty Global is looking for a senior all-round communicator to manage media relations and proactively create compelling content across a variety of formats to protect and enhance the companys reputation and ensure our story is clearly understood. The successful candidate will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and possess strong stakeholder management skills. They will have a forensic eye for detail as well as the ability to connect the dots and see the bigger picture in a complex global organization.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESHelp shape and lead Liberty Globals media relations strategy to support key business prioritiesSearch out stories from within the business and turn them into compelling content across a range of different formats both earned and ownedDevelop and maintain relationships with key journalists covering Liberty Global across major media outlets including the Financial Times Bloomberg Reuters and industry publicationsCoordinate media briefings interviews and press events for senior Liberty Global executives including preparation of briefing materials and message developmentSupport senior executive media training and preparation for external speaking platforms interviews and media appearancesManage reactive media inquiries and coordinate appropriate company responses and statementsManage the monitoring of media coverage and provide real-time press updates to senior stakeholders with analysis and insights on Liberty Global coverage and competitive positioningLead press release development distribution and follow-up activities to maximize media coverage and message amplificationCoordinate press activities around major company announcements product launches technological developments and corporate milestonesOversee the tracking and analysis of press coverage effectiveness and media sentiment to optimize media relations strategiesSupport crisis communications response including media monitoring message development and stakeholder coordination during reputational challengesDevelop crisis communication protocols and response procedures for press relations activitiesCoordinate with senior leadership and legal teams during sensitive issues requiring careful media managementMonitor potential reputational threats and provide early warning analysis with recommended media response strategiesSupport issue management through proactive media engagement and relationship buildingHelp manage relationships with external PR agencies and communications consultants supporting Liberty Globals press relations activitiesCoordinate agency deliverables including media monitoring press coverage analysis and campaign execution supportEvaluate and select media relations tools platforms and service providers to enhance media relations capabilitiesCollaborate with OpCos and other Liberty Global-owned communications teams to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated earned and owned media approach across marketsSupport internal communications team with external press considerations and message alignmentCoordinate with corporate affairs and regulatory teams on media relations aspects of policy and regulatory communicationsSupport investor relations team with media considerations around financial communications and earnings coverageKNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCEEssential Requirements:Relevant years experience in media relations media management or communications roles within corporate or agency environmentsProven track record of media relations success including journalist relationship building and press coverage generationStrong understanding of media landscape including print digital broadcast and industry publicationsExperience with crisis communications and issue management in corporate environmentExcellent writing skills for press materials including press releases media statements and briefing documents as well as longer-form thought leadership pieces and social media postsDemonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple media priorities simultaneouslyAbility to work effectively with AI tools to improve the communications processPreferred Qualifications:Technology telecommunications or media industry experience with understanding of technical concepts and industry dynamicsExperience managing external PR agencies and communications consultantsKnowledge of media monitoring tools press analytics platforms and communications measurementExperience with financial communications and regulatory press relationsInternational media relations experience across European marketsEssential Skills & Abilities:Strategic communications thinking with ability to translate business priorities into compelling
