Job Summary

The Area and Training Manager will be responsible for overseeing the sales performance of brick-and-mortar (B&M) stores within their allocated area. This role involves setting and achieving sales targets, monitoring visual merchandising (VM) standards, and fostering strong relationships with store managers to drive sales growth. Additionally, the Area and Training Manager will be responsible for providing training and support to store staff to enhance their performance and ensure alignment with company objectives.

 

Principal Accountabilities


Area Management

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve sales targets for stores within the allocated area.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with store managers to develop local marketing strategies to increase foot traffic and drive sales.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures across all stores within the area.

Sales Target Achievement:

  • Set sell-through targets for stores in alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Regularly review sales performance against targets and take proactive measures to address any deviations.
  • Work closely with store managers to identify sales opportunities and implement strategies to maximize revenue.

Relationship Building:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with store managers and staff to foster a collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Act as a liaison between store teams and the corporate office, addressing concerns and facilitating communication.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on area performance, sales trends, and challenges.

Visual Merchandising (VM) Support:

  • Provide guidance and support to ensure consistent and visually appealing merchandising standards across all stores.
  • Conduct regular store visits to assess VM compliance and provide feedback to store teams.
  • Collaborate with the VM team to develop and implement effective display strategies to enhance product visibility and drive sales.

Training and Development:

  • Develop and deliver training programs for store staff to enhance product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer service skills.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to address specific areas of improvement identified through performance evaluations.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to store teams to ensure continuous professional development and adherence to best practices.

 

Key Experience and Skills

Qualification and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in the UK as an Area and Training Manager in the retail industry. Candidates with prior experience in the beauty industry, especially with well-known retailers such as Space NK, Boots, and similar establishments, will be given preference.
  • Understanding of industry, competitor brands and treatments, trends and changing customer behaviour.
  • College or higher degree in Business, Marketing, Management, or equivalent experience preferred.

Skill Sets

  • Strong ability to create curriculum, training modules and presentations for delivery by sales team using computers and productivity software.
  • Good project management skills to facilitate coordination with multiple departments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic, organization, time management and content development skills.
  • Understanding of industry, competitor brands and treatments, trends and changing customer behaviour.
  • Willingness to learn and study all key information and characteristics of existing and new products.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and serve as a prominent face of the brand.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and take significant local travels, and occasional international travel.

Salary Range: £40,000 to £55,000 PA
