Finance Manager - Education Setting

Reed Accoutancy & Finance are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations within our clients educational institution based in Cranbrook. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in financial management and a passion for education.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with educational leaders.
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including payroll, purchasing, and other transactions.
  • Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting; develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism.
  • Lead the finance team, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with department heads to monitor budget allocations and expenditures.
  • Conduct financial analysis and present findings to senior management and the board of trustees.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure timely completion of the audit process.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Participate in strategic planning and support the leadership team with financial insights.
  • Manage financial risks and ensure the institution’s assets are safeguarded.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
  • Proficiency in financial software and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience managing a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
