Axis at Work is our design and build division which stems from decades of Tsunami Axis’s commercial interiors procurement know-how with operational and creative expertise, to deliver outstanding projects supporting the client’s project journey with full fit-out interior design schemes and loose furnishings within the Workspace and Hospitality sectors. Our highly skilled and experienced team work closely to specify, procure, deliver and install a project creating workspaces that evokes identity, enhances team collaboration and embodies company culture.


As a Junior Quantity Surveyor you will work on multiple projects, developing the budget from the beginning, producing and amending the cost schedule as the scheme progresses to RIBA 5 construction issue. Working closely with the divisions Director you will develop the cost proposals in line with project scope and budget expectations.


You will carry out a variety of project scales, working closely with the client teams for budget coordination and regulatory approvals, all within tight deadlines. Day to day tasks include costing designs, attending and leading client meetings, site visits to assess stage completions, tender responses, as well as creating supporting documents. Throughout the design stage and build stage of projects you will be required to attend site visits, surveys, progress meetings and audits. The role would suit someone with at least one years’ worth of experience within Commercial Office Interior Design and a technical understanding of current building and planning regulations. This rapidly growing division is working at a fast-pace and will suit a motivated and career minded individual who wants to grow their knowledge and broaden their experience.


Principal Accountabilities:

Cost Estimation and Budgeting:

  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for projects
  • Help develop and manage project budgets
  • Provide input on cost-saving strategies

Tendering and Contract Management:

  • Support the preparation and submission of tender documents
  • Assist in reviewing and negotiating contracts with clients and subcontractors
  • Maintain and update contract documentation

Measurement and Valuation:

  • Conduct site visits to measure and value work done
  • Prepare and submit progress claims
  • Assist in the preparation of final accounts

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of regular financial reports for management
  • Monitor project expenditures and identify variances from budgets
  • Support the management of project cash flow and financial forecasting

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess potential risks to project finances
  • Assist in the implementation of risk mitigation strategies

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site staff
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Attend project meetings and provide necessary financial information


Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field
  • Highly motivated and proactive
  • Previous experience working in the commercial interiors industry preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 years experience as a Quantify Surveyor/Estimator
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing cost estimates and financial reports
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a close team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement
  • Able to work on multiple projects at any one time and ability to prioritise workload
  • Strong organisational skills and efficient time management
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications, Procore and Excel applications
