Health & Safety Manager – Essex £65,000 – £75,000 + Package Leading UK Main ContractorA fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a leading construction main contractor, delivering major commercial and industrial projects across the region. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring projects operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with UK legislation.The RoleAs the Health & Safety Manager, you will take ownership of all site safety activity across multiple projects in Essex, ensuring best practice is upheld at all times. You will act as the key point of contact for all H&S matters, driving a positive safety culture and ensuring teams remain compliant with company policies and statutory obligations.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure all projects remain in a safe, compliant condition at all timesImplement and maintain company Health & Safety policies to prevent injury, ill health, damage, and wastageMaintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory requirements affecting construction operationsPromote the company’s H&S policy and ensure full workforce understandingConduct regular site safety inspections, recording findings and reporting to Site Managers and DirectorsEnsure all actions from previous reports are completed within required timescalesChallenge and address any unsafe behaviour or failure to meet safety responsibilitiesSupport Project Managers with accident investigations and produce timely close-out reportsDeliver site inductions for operatives and subcontractorsEnsure suitable site welfare, setup and statutory notices are in place and maintainedOversee permit-to-work processes, ensuring they are completed correctlyEnsure COSHH compliance and appropriate storageReview RAMS and verify suitability for tasks carried outCarry out any reasonable H&S-related tasks requested by senior leadershipSkills & Experience RequiredNEBOSH Construction Certificate (essential)Previous experience working on UK construction sitesFull, clean driving licenceStrong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislationAbility to interpret legislation and apply it practically on-siteExcellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levelsStrong organisational and time-management skillsConfidence working in fast-paced, high-pressure environmentsLogical decision-making ability and high attention to detailPackageSalary: £65,000 – £75,000Comprehensive package including vehicle/allowance, pension, healthcare & moreCareer development opportunities within a major UK main contractor
