- Leadership and Team Development:

- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices and provide strategic financial advice and analysis to support data-driven decision making.
- Governance and Compliance:
- Ensure necessary governance arrangements and reporting structures are in place for strategic finance.
- Maintain compliance with statutory or regulatory duties and uphold standards of best practice across financial activities.
- Capital and Investment Management:
- Oversee the Council's capital programme, investment portfolio, and treasury management activities.
- Ensure effective management of investments to achieve returns, manage risks, and support the Council's long-term financial goals.
Candidate Requirements
- Fully qualified Accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience in complex organisations.
- Extensive knowledge of local government finance, including detailed understanding of local government funding and pensions.
- Proven track record of making significant positive impacts through system and process improvements.
- Experience in strategic management and leadership across organisational functions, directing substantial resources over long-time frames.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and influence stakeholders and partners, providing leadership regarding work-related systems, processes, and challenges.
