DescriptionFunding AdministratorSalary: 25842 per annumGrade: UKRI - Band BLocation: Swindon Polaris HouseContract type: Open EndedHours: Full time/part time (25 hours minimum)Closing date:8th December 2025About the role:As a Funding Administrator you willprovide administrative support to the MRCs Boards and Panels team which delivers funding through MRC research funding opportunities. As a successful candidate you will work closely with other administrative support colleagues as well as wider team members in a supportive and collaborative environment to contribute to team objectives.You will contribute to the MRC mission as a funder improving human health through world class medical research by helping to deliver MRC funding.Interviews will take place in at Polaris House Swindon. Please include a Cover Letter to explain clearly how you meet the criteria for this role.Specific tasks you will deliver include:Use in-house systems to undertake application processingTrack the expert review process by which applications for funding are assessedIdentify conflict of interests within the peer review processSupport MRC staff to ensure smooth running of funding meetingsAttend funding meetings (in person & virtually)Respond to questions from the external research communityRaise purchase ordersManage information and records ensuring that documents are filed correctly and updated as necessaryEngage proactively with the cross-matrix resource model providing support for additional MRC funding opportunities and other projectsUndertaking other administrative duties as requiredSkills Qualification and Experience:S Assessed at ShortlistingI Assessed at InterviewEssentialExcellent attention to detail and accuracy (SI)Good organisational skills and experience of managing multiple activities (SI)Strong prioritization skills and confident working to tight deadlines (SI)Experience of working independently (SI)Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with a range of colleagues and external contacts (SI)Experience of working collaboratively as part of a team (SI)To work in a flexible way and be confident in managing change (SI)Ability to work proactively and use initiative to deliver results (SI)Working knowledge of Excel Word and Outlook (SI)Literacy and numerical skills e.g.4/C Grade in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent (S)DesirableKnowledge of UKRI and grant processing (SI)Knowledge of TFS Oracle and Microsoft Teams (S)The Swindon office is based in the Polaris House Campus and MRC operates a flexible working policy.You may be required at times to attend meetings outside of Swindon e.g. London sometimes with an occasional overnight stay.
