Role: Solutions Architect (Cloud)Locations: Birmingham | Bristol | Cardiff | Leeds | Manchester | Nottingham | SwindonClearance: Must be eligible for SC (Security Check)About the RoleWe’re supporting a major UK-wide transformation programme modernising access control and digital infrastructure across government estates — introducing new cloud-based, secure, and scalable systems that enable interoperability across departments.We’re looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to play a key role in this national digital initiative. You’ll design and implement secure, scalable cloud solutions aligned with government digital and security standards, influencing architectural best practices across the wider product ecosystem.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement secure, scalable, and resilient cloud architectures.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet strategic and operational objectives.Evaluate and optimise cloud infrastructure for performance, security, and cost efficiency.Ensure compliance with relevant government and cloud security standards.Lead technical architecture for complex migrations and integrations.Produce and maintain architectural documentation and technical roadmaps.Stay ahead of emerging cloud technologies and recommend adoption strategies.Essential ExperienceProven experience designing and implementing cloud-based solutions (Azure, AWS, or GCP).Strong grasp of architecture principles, automation tools, containerisation, and DevOps.Hands-on experience with Python, Java, or scripting languages.Deep understanding of security and compliance frameworks in complex environments.Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.DesirableExperience in Access Control Systems or identity/security domains.Relevant degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar.CertificationsCloud certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert, or GCP Professional Cloud Architect).What’s on OfferHybrid working across multiple UK hubs (Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Swindon)Strong pension and public sector benefitsA culture built on inclusion, innovation, and sustainabilityOpportunity to shape major UK digital transformation initiativesSecurity Clearance:You must be eligible to obtain SC (Security Check) clearance — this requires 5 years’ continuous UK residency prior to application.How to apply?Send a CV to kacey.norris@experis.co.uk
