Job Purpose:

  • Line management of the financial reporting team (4 heads) to deliver monthly management accounts for group companies
  • Production of year-end statutory accounts for the group along with subsequent filing of the accounts
  • Responsible for the completion of the year-end audit and liaising with tax advisors to assist with their queries in order to submit the corporation tax returns
  • Financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Be responsible for other ad-hoc reporting and projects for Finance Management

Key Accountabilities:Oversee production, review and analysis of monthly accounts (P&L and Balance Sheet) for all homes, central head office, and associated entities, including presenting the results to the Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer.

  • Line management of financial accounting team and liaising with finance sub-functions throughout the month to ensure accurate accounting of transactions.
  • Prepare and file statutory accounts for the group
  • Liaise with auditors to facilitate the statutory audit and accounts
  • Assist external tax advisors with preparation of tax schedules and ad-hoc tax planning
  • Responsible for SECR, ESOS and CIS compliance for the group
  • Prepare financial reports for stakeholders including owners, operational managers, Care Quality Commission and the bank
  • Other ad-hoc support to Finance Management as required

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Proactive, showing initiative and able to put forward my own ideas
  • Attention to detail, and desire to develop and improve systems and processes
  • Confident in resolving issues, capable of working alone and with others
  • Able to quickly grasp financial and non-financial concepts and communicate these concepts along with challenging them as required
  • Analytical and logical

  • Able to engage, debate and influence at all levels of business

Qualifications and Experience:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant
  • Experience of management, accounting and preparing reports to be distributed internally and externally
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Excellent grasp of Microsoft Office is essential, particularly Excel, comfortable working with advanced formulae and pivot tables
  • Understanding and experience of IBM Planning Analytics is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Understanding and experience of Open Accounts is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Driven, with an ethos of continuous improvement
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to communicate clearly with finance and non-finance personnel at all levels of the business
  • Comfortable managing a varied workload and co-ordinating projects to meet deadlines
