IT Internal Audit AVP

Key Responsibilities include supporting the Vice President in scoping the audit where necessary, evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of technology controls and documenting in the BIA audit toolkit.
Key skills required for this role:
- Experienced technology auditor, ideally within financial services, with one or more specialized areas such as IT infrastructure (Windows, Unix, Networks), application development (SDLC, secure coding), cybersecurity reviews (vulnerability management, penetration testing), cloud risk assessments (Azure/AWS), or IT process reviews (ITIL/COBIT).
- Practical experience of data analytics techniques (e.g. SQL Query and Python).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge about new and emerging financial products and services.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. CISA, CISM, CISSP, other relevant technical qualification(s), graduate degree).
- Practical understanding of relevant regulatory environment.
This role will be based in Knutsford.
Purpose of the role
To support the development of audits aligned to the bank's standards and objectives by working collaboratively with colleagues, providing accurate information and recommendations, and complying with policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Audit development and delivery support, including financial statements, accounting practices, operational processes, IT systems and risk management.
- Identification of operational risks to support the delivery of the Barclays Internal Audit (BIA) Audit Plan through risk assessments.
- Assessment of internal control effectiveness and their capability to identify and mitigate risk aligned to regulatory requirements.
- Communication of key findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including the Audit Owner, senior managers and directors.
- Identification of regulatory news and industry trends/developments to provide timely insight and recommendations for best practice.
- To advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions.
- Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes

- Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
- Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
- Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
- Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
- Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
- Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
- Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
- Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
