Purpose of role:

Your role will entail driving the profitable expansion of the Southern regional renewal business amidst an ambitious growth period. You'll become an integral part of a top-performing team, assessing larger and more intricate risks. Our client seeks a candidate with a deep understanding of the commercial and/or financial lines market, someone vibrant and motivated with a wide-ranging expertise eager to share knowledge and bolster a team of underwriters. This opportunity provides an excellent platform for career advancement. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishing a reputation the go to underwriter across the region.
  • Consistently and profitably underwriting larger, more intricate cases.
  • Collaborating effectively within a structured regional team, prioritising branch trading.
  • Demonstrating self-motivation, delivering high-quality results while managing a case load independently.
  • Spearheading and implementing the local underwriting strategy for your specialised area in coordination with the Regional Manager and Regional Underwriting Manager.
  • Taking ownership of the target retention rate for your caseload and region, providing support as needed.
  • Staying abreast of the competitive landscape, from market shifts to new product launches.

Essential Experience:

  • Strong commericial and/or financial lines underwriting experience
  • A thorough grasp of the businesses products and the capacity to underwrite larger, more intricate risks effectively.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the insurance market, including industry dynamics, competitors, brokers, and factors influencing market conditions such as soft/hard markets.
  • Strong trading acumen and interpersonal abilities.
