CS3 operates across the UK and overseas, supporting critical technologies and systems on Air, Land and Sea platforms, ensuring their readiness and availability to underpin national security. We are proud to be the largest supplier of avionic support to the UK MoD and a trusted partner for our customers worldwide, providing innovative and invaluable support solutions. A key element of these solutions is the provision of test capability and in this role you will be responsible for the range of test solutions that we design, develop, maintain and manage within CS3, looking at current and future needs.

What you'll do as the Project Engineering Lead for Test Engineering Capability and Delivery:

You will be responsible for proactively building and maintaining a picture of the capability of test solutions that CS3 is dependent upon, informing the strategic direction for Test Engineering in CS3 and building positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders – both internal and external to CS3, across Functions and Integrated Project Teams (IPTs). A key part of the role involves getting buy-in from stakeholders for future opportunities for ML1 (Maintenance Level 1) and ML2 (Maintenance Level 2) test equipment.

Reporting to the Head of Test Engineering Capability and Delivery for CS3, the successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert for CS3 Test Engineering, being an independent and trusted source you will be responsible for:

  • Build and maintain a picture of the capability of test solutions that CS3 is dependent upon, including developing an understanding of the risks and opportunities across the totality of this picture.
  • Use data to inform the strategies and priorities for CS3 Test Engineering.
  • Act as an independent subject matter expert for CS3 Test Engineering.
  • Act as a CS3 Test Engineering representative with other Leonardo Lines of Business.
  • Formulate lessons learned and common trends with respect to Test across CS3 Integrated Project Teams (IPT's).
  • Support CS3 bids from a Test Engineering perspective.
  • Support risk reviews and through-life reviews.
  • Control and manage test equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Support training requirements and knowledge transfer required for CS3 Test Engineering including Test Equipment handover from other Lines of Business into CS3.
  • Drive improvement activities that deliver value to the business.

We would like to hear from you if you have a combination of the following:

  • In-service knowledge and operation of a multi-contractual support environment.
  • Experience of delivering test solutions for highly complex and technically challenging products.
  • Broad experience across engineering lifecycles, with an emphasis on test engineering and associated planning and governance activities for successful delivery outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience of delivery to a variety of audiences.
  • Enthusiastic with a strong ability to foster and develop effective working relationships with both external and internal stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
  • Self-motivated with an aptitude for problem solving and driving difficult issues to conclusion.
  • Be capable of, or be able to achieve the development levels required to hold a Delegated Authority role for a range of Test Solutions utilised by CS3.
  • Proven communication & negotiation skills at all internal and external levels.
