We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – pleasespeakto your recruiter about the options for this particular roleSalary:Circa £45,000What you’ll be doing:Conduct structural design of submarine components, from major equipment to seating systems, using engineering calculations to ensure compliance with specified load cases and safety factorsPerform Finite ElementAnalysis(FEA) to evaluate the structural integrity and performance of submarine systemsCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop and deliver integrated system solutionsCompile and assess evidence to demonstrate compliance with functional, safety, and performance requirementsPrepare and review detailed design andanalysisreports, including development ofanalyticalstructural calculationsYour skills and experiences:Provenexperience in the design and specification of rotating machinery, including gears, shafts, bearings, and couplingsDemonstratedexpertisein the design andanalysisof heat exchangers and structural componentsProficient in structural design using industry-standard software tools, with familiarity in relevant codes and standards such as PD5500 and ASME for pressure vessels, BS 7608 for fatigueanalysis , and BS 5950 for structural designSound understanding of the engineering lifecycle, encompassing concept design, detailed design, manufacturing, testing and commissioning, operation, and end-of-life disposalChartered Engineer status oractivelyworking toward professional accreditationBenefits:As well as acompetitivepension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.The Propulsion team:As a member of the Propulsion Team, you will play a key role in the design and development of a critical component of the propulsion plant, including the specification and support of its procurement. Experience in sectors such as Maritime, Defence, Aerospace, Oil & Gas, or Nuclear is considered advantageous for this role.
