We are looking for an experienced Oil and Gas Technical Lead who is ready to take the next step in their career. The Oil and Gas Lead role will be demanding and varied with involvement in client development and bidding as well as technical delivery and leadership of the growing team of environmental specialists. The ideal candidate will have a background in delivering environmental support in the UK Oil and Gas sector and a strong desire to be a technical leader. The role will report directly into the Market Director Environment. Support and guidance will be provided in leadership, business development and technical delivery as necessary.Skills & Responsibilities: Overall technical lead for all environmental support to UK Oil and Gas projects. Technical lead for project delivery. Technical excellence is key to our success, you would be responsible for the quality of all environmental support provided to UK Oil and Gas projects. Business development across Oil and Gas projects, building a portfolio of clients that come to Kent as a trusted partner for the delivery of environmental and sustainability support and guidance. Conducting related environmental and sustainability consultancy scopes for the Oil and Gas sector. Provision of strategic environmental guidance and advice to clients. Technical report authorship, checking, reviewing and approval. Leading junior specialists on projects and providing technical guidance and mentoring support. Preparation of cost estimates and bids for new work scopes. Project management to ensure studies and projects are delivered in compliance with agreed scope, budgets and schedules. Direct engagement with clients and developing strong relationships with existing and future clients. Recruitment of new team members to match market growth In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: Extensive experience delivering related environmental and sustainability services. Degree(s) in a relevant subject matter. Chartership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CEnv). Experience working in the UK Energy industry, ideally on Oil and Gas projects. Existing network of clients and industry contacts. Experience leading work scopes to meet delivery/cost targets without compromising quality. Familiar with relevant legislation and industry standards and able to apply this knowledge and advise clients. Ability to prepare technical reports to a high standard and check the work of others. Experience in a client-facing role, showing an understanding of commercial challenges relevant to a consultancy business, confident in selling our services and winning work. Experience of leading or contributing to successful bids and proposals. Proactive in the identification and delivery of opportunities to grow the business. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication. Comfortable explaining environmental requirements to senior management.  Ability to present at conferences is desirable (support can be provided). Excellent client engagement skills and expertise, ability to influence clients. Excellent bid authoring knowledge and skills. Ability to lead teams and establish communication ‘drum beats’ to convey key messages in a timely manner. Behaviour/ Core Competencies: Proactive team player with excellent problem-solving, communication and presentation skills. Highly organised and enjoy a fast-paced working environment. Empathetic to the needs of team members. Resilient to the fluctuations in workload in a consultancy role. Flexible to the demands of the role and ability to balance business development against project delivery. Ability to plan own workload as well as delegate and coordinate teams.
