About the Role:

The Pattern & Product Designer is a creative professional who works under the guidance of a Senior Designer to create engaging patterns and product design solutions for various projects.

 

Purpose of the Role:

To translate design briefs into tangible results using suitable software by bringing creativity and innovation to the existing team. As a Pattern & Product Designer, you will be responsible for creating innovative and unique designs that meet project briefs. Your role requires both creative flair and technical skill, as you will need to ensure that your designs are manufacturable and meet our production requirements.

 

In addition to your creative work, you will collaborate with the design team and wider company to build strong relationships and maintain open communication throughout the design process. This is a fast-paced role that requires excellent multitasking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. You will be expected to work across all aspects of product and pattern design, so an open-minded approach is essential.

 

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong Design Capability: You must be able to develop ideas and produce designs, spec sheets, and visual presentations using freehand drawing. Have experience with design software and editing tools (essential experience in Adobe Creative Cloud, Keyshot, Maya or similar). Also, create renderings, 3D models, and product photography.
  • Clear Communication: A confident individual, you must enjoy speaking to and presenting designs to clients and colleagues and can understand and interpret a client’s vision and relay this vision into a workable design brief. Establish client requirements and communicate effectively with all departments.
  • Product Understanding: Develop an understanding of products and suppliers including the construction and manufacturing process of products.
  • Time Management: Work efficiently under deadlines, prioritising tasks and managing time effectively. Comfortable checking own work and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Adherence to Company Values: A strong dedication to upholding the core values and principles in all activities and interactions.
  • Brand Awareness: You should embody the Company's image and values and positively portray this through your approach to tasks, and client interactions.
  • Adaptability: Embrace a varied role that requires flexibility and an open-minded approach to work across all aspects of product and pattern design.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and opportunities when presented.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: A strong aptitude for promoting collaboration and effecting communication across different departments to achieve a seamless client experience.
  • Presentation Skills: Proficiency in presenting design concepts to or taking a design brief from clients during meetings and can effortlessly adapt and modify designs.
  • Product Knowledge: Hold an in-depth knowledge and passion for all GF product lines and suppliers that are available.
