Job Title: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) Location: Al-Khair Secondary School, CroydonJob SummaryAl-Khair Secondary School is seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO to lead the development and provision of special educational needs (SEN) across the secondary school. You will have strategic oversight of SEN policy, coordinate day-to-day provision, and provide professional guidance to staff, working closely with parents/carers and external agencies to ensure all pupils with SEN or a disability achieve their full potential.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and monitor the quality of SEN provision and contribute to school self-evaluationImplement the SEN policy and ensure it is reflected in the school improvement planMaintain accurate SEND records and provision mapsProvide guidance on teaching pupils with SEN and the graduated approachManage resources and budgets effectively to meet pupil needsLiaise with external agencies, educational psychologists, and local authoritiesAnalyse pupil data and evaluate the effectiveness of interventionsSupport smooth transitions for pupils and promote inclusion in curriculum and extracurricular activitiesIdentify staff training needs and lead INSET sessionsPromote an ethos and culture that supports SEN policy and good outcomes for pupilsUndertake any other duties commensurate with the accountabilities of the postEssential Skills and QualificationsNational Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete within 3 years)Degree qualificationSound knowledge of the SEND Code of PracticeUnderstanding of quality first teaching and effective interventionsStrong data analysis skills to inform provision planningExcellent communication, interpersonal, and record-keeping skillsAbility to influence, negotiate, and build effective relationshipsPersonal QualitiesCommitment to achieving the best outcomes for pupils with SEN or a disabilityAlignment with the ethos and values of Al-Khair Secondary SchoolAbility to work under pressure and prioritise effectivelyCommitment to confidentiality, safeguarding, and equality
