About the opportunity:

Reporting to HR Director, Europe, the Employee Relations Consultant will be responsible for advising on complex employee relations issues, policies,
processes and practices, such as investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, redundancies and terminations including settlement agreements. The Employee Relations Consultant will be required to work on their own cases as well as support and advise on cases carried out by their HR Consultant colleagues. They will also engage and work collaboratively with our , HR Business Partners, business managers and internal legal counsel on ER matters.


You will be based in Warrington or Glasgow.

Key responsibilities:
  • Conduct and conclude confidential ER cases ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures and current employment legislation/regulations.
  • Escalate cases, when appropriate, for review by the HR Director and/or internal Legal.
  • Ensure all ER cases are recorded and managed through the internal case management tool.
  • Produce periodic reports, gather and analyse relevant data and metrics to identify trends, problem areas and issues and make recommendations on corrective actions and preventative measures.
  • Conduct research on employment legislation and statutory regulations and make recommendations on their applicability to the Company.
  • Work towards continuous process improvement, making recommendations and taking actions to deliver best practice and avoid escalation, eradicate issues, errors and minimise risks.
  • Support in major change programmes as required
  • Coach line managers and deliver appropriate training on effective management of ER issues
  • Support and provide guidance to HR and business managers on large scale redundancy programmes and collective redundancy process.
  • Support employees with disabilities with Reasonable Adjustments whilst ensuring all legislation is considered and adhered to.

Here's what you'll need:
  • Possess a strong foundation of HR and ER experience specific to investigation of employee complaints
  • Working knowledge of UK country employment law and the ability to apply this knowledge to any challenging or sensitive situations including the capability to learn other country employment related legislation.
  • Extensive experience and skill in conducting complex employment related investigations and supporting managers to draft investigative reports and reach appropriate outcomes.
  • Proven ability to effectively organise, prioritise, and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to quickly build strong and maintain effective working relationships, delivering service excellence.
  • Experienced and confident in coaching and partnering with a broad stakeholder group from line managers through to Directors, with the ability to influence and challenge others.
