Mears Limited is seeking an exceptional Operations Director to lead the operational delivery and commercial performance of our contract with North Lanarkshire council. Reporting directly to the Managing Director you will play a key strategic role in ensuring customer-focused end-to-end service excellence across housing compliance responsive repairs planned maintenance and investment programmes is met whilst ensuring all internal KPIs are met.You will be the second in command to the Managing Director and will need to step up when they are out of the business.You will provide strategic leadership to office teams operational teams and our supply chaindriving performance innovation customer engagement and continuous service improvement. You will be central to maintaining strong tenant and client satisfaction while developing trusted collaborative relationships that support the long-term success of the contract. You will play a vital role in ensuring delivery of social value expectations within the contract.Key Responsibilities:Lead all operational and commercial activities to deliver contracts and services on time within budget and to the highest standardsMobilise new contracts effectively ensuring alignment with Group strategy and local plansDrive productivity innovation continuous improvement and new working practicesOversee contract administration procurement pricing risk management and regulatory complianceClient Tenant & Stakeholder EngagementBuild and sustain strong relationships with clients suppliers and subcontractorsEnsure a high-quality customer experience embedding customer-first valuesMonitor KPIs SPIs compliance and cost controlReview business performance regularly to ensure P&L delivery meets or exceeds targetsManage subcontractor performance to meet commercial service and compliance requirements including key areas such as gas safetyProvide leadership in health safety and environmental management across all operational activitiesEnsure adherence to legislation and work closely with Group HSE teams to maintain a strong safety culture.Key Criteria:Degree / Professional QualificationConstruction-related qualifications (Degree CIOB RICS IOSH or NEBOSH)Senior operational leadership experience in repairs maintenance or constructionStrong commercial acumen with contract knowledgeExperience within social housing or local authority environmentsExcellent leadership communication negotiation and influencing skillsStrong analytical capability to drive operational and financial improvementsDeep understanding of repairs maintenance compliance and investment worksAbility to manage diverse teams and large subcontractor groupsRobust knowledge of health and safety regulationsHolds a full clean driving licenceAll our roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work within the UK Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship.To drive a Mears vehicle you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.Candidates should be aware that all our roles are subject to relevant Background Identity & Security checks before commencement of employment.Apply below or to discuss your application further; contact:Vickie Rudge ()If you need any help with your application process we are here to support you.
