A market-leading national plant hire business is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to take ownership of its procurement function at Head Office in Chesterfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a long-established, highly respected organisation operating at scale across the UK. With a fleet of over 2,200 items of plant and equipment, a workforce exceeding 180 staff, and a network of 9 UK depots, this business has built a reputation over more than 60 years for reliability, service excellence, and operational strength.The RoleReporting directly into the Managing and Operations Directors, you will lead and develop the purchasing function to ensure the efficient, cost-effective and sustainable acquisition of parts, equipment, and services. Your work will directly impact fleet availability, safety, environmental performance, and overall operational success. This is a hands-on, strategic role offering genuine influence across the business.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, manage, and maintain a strong network of Approved SuppliersBuild and negotiate National Supply AgreementsImplement and manage robust risk management strategies to ensure continuity of critical suppliesEnsure all purchasing and procurement processes are efficient, compliant, and cost-effectiveAlign procurement activity with the companys Quality Management SystemsDrive continuous improvement across purchasing and supply chain operationsAbout YouTo succeed in this role, you must have: Proven experience purchasing plant, equipment, and associated parts within the construction or plant hire sectorStrong exposure to equipment such as rollers, pavers, excavators, loading shovels, dumpers, and similarA solid track record of success in a similar purchasing or procurement leadership roleExcellent commercial awareness, leadership capability, and negotiation skillsConfident decision-making and communication abilitiesA proactive, improvement-focused mindsetA full UK driving licencePackage & BenefitsCompetitive salary (dependent on experience and qualifications)Company carDiscretionary annual bonusEmployer pension contributionLife assuranceLong-term career opportunity within a stable, growing businessIf you're a commercially driven Purchasing Manager looking to make a real impact within a well-established national operation, Id love to hear from you.TPBN1_UKTJ
