TECHNICAL BUYER


Job specification

Support engineering projects throughout the procurement cycle.

Source goods and services as directed to include, but not limited to, precision machined and composite components.

Balance cost, quality, and process efficiency to achieve budget and delivery time targets.

Clearly and promptly communicate delays and deviations from the plan.

Manage suppliers’ performance on cost, quality, and delivery times.

Build strong relationships with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Work with the Engineering team to identify cost reduction opportunities.

Work with Key stakeholders to Identify and implement improvements to the procurement process.

Deputize for Head of Supply Chain as necessary.


Person Specification

High level of technical understanding, including the interpretation of technical drawings and composite lay-up manuals.

MCIPS (or working towards) with a minimum of 3-5 years working in technical purchasing.

Proven experience of purchasing mechanical and composite parts in a dynamic and high stress environment.

Ability to independently prioritize workload, and overcome any obstacles encountered.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate calmly and effectively at all levels.

Flexibility to support across the Supply Chain team in a wide range of tasks, with a positive attitude to achieving the varying demands of the business, as they arise.

Fluent in spoken and written English.


Desirable

MCIPS (or working towards) with a minimum of 3-5 years working in technical purchasing.

Previous experience in Precision Engineering.

Experience of developing an ERP system.
