Application Developer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Java Spring Boot and Google Cloud Migration Application Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development, with a focus on Spring Boot, and preferably hands-on experience in migrating applications to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).


Essential Skills:

  1. Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot framework.
  2. Knowledge of Cloud services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, and GKE.
  3. Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
  4. Experience with Test Driven Development and frameworks for unit/integration tests
  5. Good understanding of containerisation and container orchestration.
  6. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, Git, Gitlab etc.).
  7. Knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and caching mechanisms.
  8. Understanding of networking, security, and IAM in cloud environments.
  9. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.


Desired Skills:

  1. Working experience with GCP
  2. Google Cloud Professional certification.
  3. Experience migrating application with other cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  4. Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  5. Experience working in large organisations and be a part of migration programs


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality Java applications using the Spring Boot framework.
  2. Collaborate with product owners, architects, and other developers to deliver robust software solutions.
  3. Ensure the application code follows best practices and adheres to coding standards.
  4. Assess existing systems, identify migration strategies, and develop cloud-native solutions.
  5. Work with DevOps teams to automate deployment pipelines using tools such as Gitlab, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  6. Conduct performance tuning and optimization of Java applications on GCP.
  7. Ensure all applications and cloud environments comply with security standards and industry best practices.
