Join us and contribute to making a positive impact on our community.The RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join the Fostering Team within our Fostering and Kinship Service. As a Fostering Supervising Social Worker you will be responsible for the supervision support and development of our foster carers. Youll work closely with colleagues across Childrens Services to ensure placements are stable safe and responsive to the needs of children and young people.Key responsibilities include:Providing regular supervision and support to foster carers and kinship carers in line with statutory requirementsUndertaking fostering assessments (including Form F) and presenting to the fostering panelMonitoring and reviewing placements to ensure high-quality care and safeguardingDuty days; matching North Somerset foster carers to children who come into care or need short breaks in a planned or emergency basisDelivering training and contributing to carer development programmesParticipating in recruitment campaigns and fostering eventsEnsuring that carers are adhering to National Minimum Standards (fostering)Completing any reports as necessary including annual reviews and standards of care reportsThis position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.Valid driving licence and own transport or be able to provide alternative suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.This position is currently based at the Town Hall office in Weston-Super-Mare.Work StyleAt North Somerset Council we offer a hybrid working environment based on four distinct work styles. Depending on the role and personal circumstances you will fall into one of these categories. However please note that during the induction period it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development.
