At our Sutton-in-Ashfield Rail Service Centre we are at the forefront of delivering world-class mechanical repairs and overhauls for the UK Rail Sector ensuring the reliability and safety of the trains that keep our country moving. From traction motors to auxiliary systems our expertise keeps fleets operational efficient and on schedule.We are looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join our skilled team helping us continue to deliver exceptional service to our rail customers.Main tasks and responsibilitiesDismantle inspect repair reassemble and test mechanical components of AC/DC traction motors small auxiliary motors pumps and gearboxesConduct incoming inspections to identify mechanical damage or wear and report according to set proceduresPrepare clean and inspect all reusable parts for assembly or repairOperate specialised mechanical repair and testing equipmentCarry out alignment balancing and mechanical tolerance checksComplete all job documentation including photographs accurately and on timeAssist with lifting handling and positioning of heavy components safelyAbout youRecognised mechanical engineering or fitting apprenticeship (or equivalent)Proven experience dismantling assembling and maintaining mechanical rotating equipmentExperience with pumps gearboxes and traction or auxiliary motorsAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawingsStrong attention to detail organisational skills and commitment to qualityA full UK driving licence is preferredWhat we offer youMonday - Friday 40 hours per week early finish on a Friday.Competitive base salaryPaid overtime opportunitiesCompany-wide bonus33 days annual leaveCompany pension schemeOngoing training and career development opportunitiesRecognition as one of the UKs Top Employers by the Top Employers InstituteAt Sulzer we keep industry moving and in the Rail Sector that means keeping Britain on track.Do you have a question about the roleReach out to Daniel Faulkner at Our team is looking forward hearing from youSulzer is an equal opportunity employer.
