Are you a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant who wants to make a difference in the lives of students with complex needs? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you Step Teachers are working with a "Good" Ofsted-rated school in Islington and are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a school that champions high aspirations and also contribute to raising the achievement of students. This school believes their learners should excel both academically and creatively. Start September 2024.

Key Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant:


  • Provide one-on-one support to students with SEN, assisting with their educational and personal development.
  • The SEN Teaching Assistant should assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to implement tailored support plans for students with SEN.
  • The SEN Teaching Assistant should maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, contributing to comprehensive assessments and reports.

Requirements of a Teaching Assistant:


  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, with SEN experience.
  • Strong KS1 - Year 1 knowledge.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in different educational settings.
