As part of this exciting journey we are seeking a hardworking Synthetic Chemist to join us in Cambridge, with an outstanding team who are working to discover, develop and deliver the right drugs to the right people, in order to make a life-changing difference to patient survival.

You will help us explore the amazing things which science can do, working on projects from hit generation through to candidate selection. You will be responsible for conceiving and implementing innovative design strategies within projects, solving complex chemistry problems to deliver the next generation of Oncology medicines.

Essential requirements

  1. A Ph.D. in a chemistry-related discipline or a degree with experience in a synthetic chemistry role
  2. Expert knowledge of contemporary synthetic organic chemistry and ability to deliver innovative solutions to projects
  3. Excellent skills in practical synthetic organic chemistry
  4. Passion for organic synthesis, demonstrated expertise in multi-step synthesis, new synthetic routes design and optimization
  5. Awareness of how modern synthetic technologies such as high throughput experimentation can be used in the drug discovery process
  6. Keen interest in the drug discovery process and medicinal chemistry
  7. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate across interfaces of scientific disciplines
  8. Excellent team-working skills and ability to deliver to agreed timelines
  9. Ability to enhance business reputation internally and externally through peer-reviewed publications and oral/poster presentations

Desirable requirements
  1. Experience of synthetic technologies such as high throughput experimentation, flow chemistry, modern scale up methods and biocatalysis
