Product Owner

About the role
As a Product Owner you'll sit within the Product Chapter alongside other Product Experts. Tesco Mobile depends on its Product Owners to be the voice of our customers and colleagues. Product Owners drive and encourage the business to deliver outstanding value to customers. Each of our Product Owners work in a squad across Tesco Mobile and have ownership for a customer journey or collection of journeys.
As "the voice of the customer" you are accountable for improving the value of the product(s) the squad is responsible for. You'll work with your Squad members, Tribe lead, Chapter lead and Agile Coach to define and prioritise initiatives aligned to the strategic goals of the organisation.

You will be responsible for
Understand the Product and make decisions about its development to ensure we meet Product and Tribe objectives and key results Keep abreast of key developments in our industry and have a basic understanding of our critical systems and platforms I use simple research tools and techniques to resolve the strategic direction for your Product Listen actively to my customers and bring together insights from multiple sources for richer understanding Understand 'why' customers use your product and use data and insight to identify the highest value jobs Show evidence of supervising and responding to important metrics for the Product Have a clear evaluation plan for releases and can show how this feeds into my Product's continuous improvement. Understand the Scrum methodology and be comfortable embedding this within the squad, including the core ceremonies, clear roles and responsibilities, a shared purpose, product vision and well-defined product backlog Familiar with simple squad performance metrics and use these with my squad to continuously improve performance Write clear and inspiring vision statements in collaboration with others in my squad and tribe that guide our product roadmap Have a basic roadmap for the product and work on this in collaboration with my squad and other SMEs as needed Ensure roadmap is validated against the market and customer needs Skilled at writing user stories and follow the INVEST principle Familiar with story mapping techniques and use these to build cohesive product features, actively engaging with partners early for feedback Understand squad capacity in a structured way and use this data to guide prioritisation and value outcomes Understand our platforms and architecture and actively collaborate with engineers and other SMEs to ensure platform development is an ongoing part of Product development, keeping the platform safe, secure and well-maintained
You will need
Curiosity, desire to understand customers and their behaviour, and a capacity to learn fast Experience working in an agile organisation, with a solid understanding of Scrum methodologies, tools and practices Previous Product Management or Product Ownership experience Understands customer research methodologies and how to interpret customer insight from multiple sources Critical thinking; ability to set a clear vision, prioritise and plot a roadmap to get there Analytical and problem-solving skills using data and insight Ability to manipulate data (e.g. in Excel) Ability to communicate confidently with a wide range of collaborators Experience in the retail and / or telecoms industries desirable Delivering brilliant customer journeys through multiple channels desirable Platform ownership and development desirable
