As a Structured Trader on the desk, you need to be comfortable pricing and managing material risks related to structured energy transactions. Traders on our desk need to analyse and react to the latest developments in the global energy transition in the context of generating commercial ideas and risk-management actions. Our work environment is fast-paced and challenging, so the ability to think and react quickly under pressure is essential.

Job Responsibilities
  • Helping to lead WFS' physical/financial continental Power & Gas business by identifying, analysing, and executing trading opportunities in relevant markets.
  • Structure and execute complex and bespoke transactions within EMEA gas and power space. Driving the development of the desk's tools and resources to value, price, manage (including all greeks) and monetize new and existing option structures.
  • Price and manage physical and derivative risks in both liquid and illiquid benchmarks across the EMEA gas and power space
  • Working with external (and internal) customers alongside business development to bring in new structures with embedded optionality to the book, or deal types to help monetize existing exposures.
  • Play a key role in setting up access to new markets in order to allow the desk to harvest future commercial opportunities within the structured trading space
  • Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness in terms of steering the growth of in-house proprietary pricing models and fundamentals analysis and, with appropriate guidance and support, help build out further analytical infrastructure as per business requirements.
  • Formulate and implement a risk vs reward view based on technical and fundamental analysis for the business such as developing and executing short-term trading strategies across all of Europe, with a focus on identifying profitable opportunities while managing risk exposure.
  • Responsible for the entry of trades into the Energy Trading Risk Management system in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring all positions remain at all times within the agreed trading parameters and risk management strategy.
  • Stay up to date with market trends and provide insight and analysis to shape company product offering.
  • Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
  • You demonstrate an advanced understanding of the dynamics of gas and power options
  • You bring significant demonstrable experience trading European power and gas benchmarks both in a physical and derivatives context.
  • You demonstrate competency in understanding the logistical-delivery aspects of short-term gas and power trading.
  • You have a solid understanding of power and gas fundamentals modelling and analysis.
  • You have a proven track record of translating fundamental analysis and quantitative modelling of derivatives space into trading opportunities and asset optimization strategies.
  • You are full of initiative and resourcefulness with a strong desire to problem-solve in a commercial context.
  • You are a strong team player that partners well with colleagues and can lead a diverse group of stakeholders through the various stages of a structured energy deal life cycle
